ABOUT RASHTRIYA MILITARY SCHOOLS (RMS)


In India, there exist five prestigious Rashtriya Military Schools, renowned for their fully residential setup and exceptional facilities. These institutions, overseen by the Directorate General of Military Training and classified as Category ‘A’ establishments, provide top-notch education. Affiliated with the CBSE board, they offer highly subsidized fees, courtesy of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.

These schools boast a rigorous admission process, comprising an All India Written Exam, Interview, and thorough medical examination. They stand as bastions of excellence, nurturing future leaders and instilling values of discipline and patriotism

There is common entrance test (CET) conducted at a national level for admission in Class 6 and 9.

For Class 6
  • • Both boys and girls can apply.
  • • A candidate should not be less than 10 years and more than 12 years of age as on 31 March of the year of admission.
For Class 9
  • • Both boys and girls can apply.
  • • A candidate should not be less than 13 years and more than 15 years of age as on 31 March of the year of admission.
  • • Candidate should have passed Class 8 from a govt/recognized school before the date of admission. Students studying in Class 8 are also eligible.
RESERVATION –
  • • 70% for wards of JCOs/OR of Army, Navy and AF (including Ex-servicemen).
  • • 30% for wards of Officers of Army, Navy and AF (including retired Officers) and wards of civilians.
  • • 50 seats are reserved for wards of service personnel Killed in Action.
  • Note: 15% and 7.5% seats are reserved for SC and ST in all categories.

A. Written Examination for Class 6

The written part of the examination consists of four subjects -

EXAM NOTES
  • Questions of Class 5 standard in subjects of Mathematics, English, Intelligence & General Knowledge.
  • English marks are not counted towards merit.
  • There is No Negative marking in the paper.
B. Interview for Class 6
  • The interview consists of 20 marks.
  • Candidates who qualify the written test and are figuring in the merit list will be required to appear for Interview at respective Rashtriya Military Schools.
  • The marks obtained in the interview gets added to the score of the written test. Final merit list will be prepared after the Interview.
C. Results for Class 6

The merit list, along with school allocations, has been published. All students must pass a medical fitness test, and those who fail will not be admitted.
